Based on notes Marco Kleebauer has collected over the years, “How To Avoid a Good Drum Sound” is a trusted companion for inspiring new ideas and unconventional approaches to recording drums. From retracing experimental methods to revisiting fundamental techniques like stereo recording, and how to avoid phase issues, “Notes on Drum Recording” has you covered.

MARCO KLEEBAUER,
born in 1994 in Eferding, Austria, is a producer, musician and artist. After finishing high school, he moved to Vienna, toured Europe and the US with his first band Leyya and produced their first streaming-success “Superego”. The track gained recognition in the sync world and reached top positions on the Hype Machine charts when it was released.

Besides launching other band projects like Sharktank or the multidisciplinary jazz-project Wetter Etc., Marco gained the reputation of a “sound wizard”- known for his innovative, out-ofthe-box recording techniques and his ability to craft unique, distinctive songs. Among other things, he has produced albums for renowned artists in the German-speaking alternative music scene, such as Bilderbuch or Faber, all while continuously seeking new creative endeavors.

“How to Avoid a Good Drum Sound” is his first book publication. It compiles and visualizes Marco’s insights and main principles on drum recording, while also aiming to inspire readers how to break them.
